Volati is pleased to announce the acquisition of GSS-Glückman, Silwer & Skog AB, one of Sweden’s leading printing companies, with operations in Malmö, Svedala and Åtvidaberg. The acquisition increases Volati group sales by more than SEK 1.2 billion and expands the group’s portfolio into a new industry.
On September 1, 2011, Volati acquired GSS-Glückman, Silwer & Skog AB (GSS group), a company that develops and manufactures self-adhesive labels, labeling and packaging machines primarily for the Scandinavian market. The GSS group offers a complete range of products, meeting customer’s product labeling requirements through the group’s subsidiaries Ettiketto Labeling Systems AB, Printcom Grafiska AB and Fillpak Sweden AB.
“The GSS group is a well-managed and modern company in what is an interesting, new market for Volati. The company is characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit, has a solid core business and a robust product offering. The GSS group is a key addition to Volati’s portfolio of industrial companies,” said Patrik Wahlén, CEO of Volati.
The GSS group was founded in 2001 by Peter Glückman, Freddie Silwer and Rolf Skog and is today one of the market leaders in the industry. The group reports sales of approximately SEK 235 million annually and has a total of 110 employees in Malmö, Svedala and Åtvidaberg.
“We have spent over ten years building up and developing the group into one of the industry’s leading players. It has been a fun and exciting journey, which is now entering a new phase. We are content and feel confident handing over the company to Volati, a strong and development-inclined owner, with the ambition to run and further develop the company in the same positive spirit that we ourselves have done. Freddie Silwer, CFO, and myself in the role of CEO, will remain with the company to assist the new owners during a transition period,” said Peter Glückman, CEO for GSS-Glückman, Silwer & Skog AB.
Volati is an established industrial group that acquires and further develops well managed companies facing a change of ownership, such as a generational change. Volati is a long-term owner, with the ambition to build up a broad portfolio of companies and further develop them. Volati invests in companies with strong market positions, good profitability and sales of between SEK 50 - 1,000 million. The company’s investments are industry-independent and are based on the company’s development potential. After eight years of operations, Volati reaches annual sales of over SEK 1,250 million. Today, the company consists of six subsidiaries with operations in several countries throughout Europe.
“Volati’s ambition is to build up a broad portfolio of companies and further develop them. Our role is to be a strategic resource, while operational responsibility lies with the respective company. We strive to contribute expertise that helps create long-term value for our subsidiaries,” concluded Patrik Wahlén, CEO of Volati.
